At Google I/O 2015 conference, Google debuted an early build of Now on Tap, Google’s new mind reader context-based search feature that looks like the coolest Android feature in a long period of time.

And this feature will be available in upcoming Android M. Now on Tap is a new way to search content inside apps automatically. So, when you’re in an app, you have to hold down the home button and then Now on Tap starts its magic. Your phone’s Android will figure out the content on the screen and then perform a Google Now search. While the usual search results brings back a list of links, Now on Tap brings back organized information for you. Let us suppose you are chatting with a friend and it mentions the movie Tomorrowland and if you hold the home button, a tiny card will pop up from the screen-bottom with information about the movie from the web and apps like IMDb.

now-on-tap-4

In one more example if you are chatting with your loved one and he/she said today i would like to dine Mexican Food, how about to take dinner at Reposado (For example). When you hold Home Button it will auto scan your text and pick up the place Reposado and show you related results like on Google Map etc.

now-on-tap-2

So as seen on Android M, Now on Tap is an intuitive search that works with apps – actually all apps – and you will have to never leave the app window and open the browser to search your query. Now on Tap is like your phone’s digital eye that reads your screen and brain to give you the desired result.

This feature is the coolest one which will make your life easier and does things just by thinking. You also have a full control of these suggestions whether you want to choose them or ignore. This feature in Android M is the most exciting part of the next iteration of Google’s Android OS and it surely has the capability to take Google’s personal assistant far past Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana.

Android Auto is finally rolling out to production cars, starting with the Hyundai Sonata. Android Auto does not fully replace the Sonata’s interface. Instead, it essentially runs as an app on top of it, launching when you plug in a compatible phone (Android 5.0 or newer) into the car’s built-in USB port. It turns the car’s infotainment system into the conduit for controlling Google Maps navigation, receiving messages, and playing music or listening to podcasts.\

Announced at Google I/O 2014, Android Auto is the counterpart to CarPlay on iOS. And in fact many auto manufacturers as well as aftermarket units support both Android and iOS.

It also lets you use Google’s voice search from behind the wheel, using the existing buttons and microphones already built into the car. Android Auto is Google’s solution for bringing the power of your smartphone to the relatively dumb nature of vehicle infotainment. Basically you’re using your phone to broadcast a new user interface onto your car’s touchscreen, thus bringing the full power of Android 5.x Lollipop to one of the most-used screens you’ll ever own.

androidauto-6.0

The gist is this: Android Auto works by projecting a customized version of a compatible Android smartphone onto the in-car display after the phone has been plugged in to the car via USB. Phone calls are handled over Bluetooth. This opens up the possibility to use mobile apps behind the wheel such as Google Maps, Google Play Music, Google Now and third-party offerings (with modified interfaces for the car) such as MLB At Bat, Spotify and Pandora. The interface is very simple and adapted to be used with few taps and swipes — or even completely with voice control —while driving. It is primarily focused on media and navigation, with initial versions of Android Auto not being suited for climate controls or other in-car functions.

Underneath the hood Android Auto is just based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the same newMaterial Design language we’re all getting used to. Some automakers have already confirmed their plans to support Android Auto, and several other manufacturers and third-party OEMs are releasing their own Android Auto-compatible head units. Pioneer released its new NEX series (the 4100, 5100 and 8100) in March 2015.

Microsoft launched the Surface 3 fitted with Windows 8.1 and some beefy specs. It is the first of the original Surface lineup to not run Windows RT, to the applause of most Microsoft fans.

Having full Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 can be upgraded when it launches. Should be a big seller for customers worried about the full desktop experience. The only worry now is hefty professional applications and video games will not run well, but at least there is the option.

To lower the costs to $499, Microsoft has decreased the screen size and resolution to 10.8-inch, 1920 x 1080 display as compared to the Surface pro 3. The Surface 3 also runs on Intel Atom, a low grade processor that has started seeing some adoption on mobile.

PC applications will not run on the Surface 3. There should be enough power to run most of the common apps and more than enough for web browsing.

Office applications will not come pre-installed. A small price to pay for having a wider selection of PC applications readily available, instead of being locked away because the platform won’t allow them to be downloaded.

Say goodbye to calls from unknown numbers. Facebook’s newest app Hello instantly matches phone numbers of incoming and outgoing calls to Facebook profiles to show you info about who you’re talking to, block calls from commonly blocked numbers, and search for businesses to call. Today, Hello is rolling out for public testing in the US, Brazil, and Nigeria, but the catch is that it’s Android-only since iOS won’t let apps interact with phone calls.

Hello’s caller ID feature could clue you in to whether you want to pick up a call from a number you don’t have saved by showing their name and profile picture — as long as they haven’t changed the default privacy setting that lets people search from using their phone number. You’ll then see whatever info they share publicly or with you, like city, employer, website, and more.

hello-feature-gif

Technically, nothing is changing about Facebook privacy, though it does make personal info more readily visible. Hello essentially just runs an immediate Facebook graph search on any number you call or that calls you.

Hello works and looks quite similar to caller ID app TrueCaller. Last month, Android Police spotted Facebook experimenting with an employees-only version off Hello codenamed “Phone”.

Facebook’s now officially testing the app publicly, as Hello Product Manager Andrea Vaccari says there’s a big problem to solve. “More than 1 billion phone calls are made in the US ever day” he tells me. But “the experience of the phone call hasn’t evolved in a long time.”

Samsung’s marketing team has just produced what could be its best work yet — and definitely its most violent. The ad above isn’t brand new, and it’s possible you’ve seen a shorter teaser version on TV in recent weeks, but man is it great. Hit play, and you’ll think you’ve stumbled upon some generic, thirsty-for-views YouTube unboxing video.

Samsung totally nails the vibe here, with all the hallmarks you’d expect; you’ve got your unsteady camera filming everything, plus the played out “Hey, what’s up guys” greeting that inexplicably always starts these things off. But then the clip suddenly morphs into a real-world blend between Mirror’s Edge and an action sequence that would be right at home in a Jason Bourne movie. Seventy seconds in, our host — having made a successful helicopter getaway — is back to talking about the S6’s ability to run two apps at once.

We’re left hoping that Samsung will try to top this whenever the Note 5 comes around, because unboxing videos need less boring stuff and more smashed garden pots.

Google now let you to run Android apps on your Chrome browser in your Computer with a tool called App Runtime of Chrome                                                                                                                   (ARC) Welder. It is a project which allows Android apps to run on                                                                                                         Chrome OS.

Some time before this tool was only available for developers who got to collaborate with Google to do so. But now Google Officially launch its full version for Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS which will allow you to run Android Apps on your Desktop. The all you need is just add APK files of application which your want to run on your PC. I also  run WhatsApp on my PC with this tool and it works perfectly.

ARC-Welder

However, ARC isn’t run all Google Play Services, like Google+ etc and some apps that require missing services like in-app purchasing will fail to run or crash. Hopefully Google will add these in the near future to enable more apps to run on various desktop platforms.

Youtube now supports 360-degree videos. Users who have cameras having this feature like Ricoh Theta have feature to capture 360-degree videos can upload their videos. These videos will play on web and Android Youtube app.

Users can see more details about the video format on GitHub. You also no need to wear VR-Headset. On the Web (read; Chrome), you can scroll around the video using your mouse like you would on Google Maps’ Street View. On Android, it’s a lot more fun – you can look around by moving your phone or tablet.

Still, we’d imagine the best experience will be with virtual reality headsets. Besides, the red on Google’s new View Master matches YouTube’s nicely. If you can’t quite wrap your head around what 360-degree videos will look like (pun quite intended), YouTube’s made a playlist of content you can try right now.
