Finally Google complete his first prototype of Self-driving car which is steering-less, no accelerator or no brakes. Just contains seat-belts, some leg-rooms few buttons and a screen that will display some feature including your route and an Android based interface. The difference now is that it is fully functional and has working components.
“Since [May], we’ve been working on different prototypes-of-prototypes, each designed to test different systems of a self-driving car. For example, the typical ‘car’ parts like steering and braking, as well as the ‘self-driving’ parts like the computer and sensors,” said Google in a blog post.
“We’ve now put all those systems together in this fully functional vehicle, our first complete prototype for fully autonomous driving.”
In past the director of Google’s Self-driving car project Chris Urmson said: “The vehicles will be very basic it contains 64 lasers which scan across 360 degrees, a camera, and GPS data to generate a map of its surroundings and drive safely.”
He also said: “This is one step more close toward the safe driving and safety of Millions of people when people will give a destination point to their cars and can rest or do their work with no worry. The software model will react all the predictable and unpredictable scenarios. ”
This first prototype will contains sensors that will scan the environment around 2 football ground in all four directions. This will helpful when the street is too much busy. One more thing the speed of this prototype will 25mph.
